SOLD: $175,000 for Superman Comic Book Found-In-Wall of Old House

WhatSellsBest.com is reporting an extremely rare Superman Comic Book, found in the wall of a home during a remodel, has sold for $175,000. Fetching many-times the initial purchase price of the house it was discovered in.

The house, located in a small town in Minnesota, was reportedly purchased for $10,000 as a rehab project. The auction listing stated the home had been built 1938, which was also the year this particular comic was introduced to the public.

According to James Massey, publisher of WhatSellsBest.com;  “While it’s an extremely rare discovery… it’s not all that surprising to hear it was found in the wall of a home from the 1930’s. Back then, newspapers, magazines, and even comics were often used to insulate the walls of homes.”

Surprisingly, it was estimated the comic may have fetched $75,000 more, had the owner not accidentally tore the back-cover during a heated dispute with a family member, shortly after it’s discovery. Nonetheless, the comic brought a welcome windfall to it’s owner.
