Class of 2013 ready for first race simulations

WEBWIRE

Munich (DE). The drivers in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup are ready for the first race simulations of the current season. The talented young racing drivers, who are receiving comprehensive preparation for a career in professional motor racing courtesy of BMW, successfully completed their latest round of basic theory and practical courses at the Anderstorp Raceway in Sweden last weekend. The motorsport youngsters are now ready to compete in the many test races scheduled for the rest of the season.

“For the drivers, the on-track event in Anderstorp was another important step in their training,” said BMW works driver and head instructor Dirk Adorf. “The theory parts included the meaning of the many flags used during a race, as well as safety car rules and preparations for the start of a race. They then went straight out onto the racetrack and put these training elements into practice. This year’s class is now ready for the race simulations, which get underway at the next on-track event at Austria’s Red Bull Ring.”

The final preparation for the test races at the Red Bull Ring will take place from 2nd to 4th July in Silverstone (UK), where the drivers will attend a simulator training course at the iZone Performance Centre for the second time this season. The schedule for Silverstone also includes further units dealing with fitness, performance and media training. As such, this year’s drivers will take the next step towards the highlight of the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup – the “Grand Final”, which will be held as part of the DTM weekend in Oschersleben (DE) in September. The winner of the three races in Oschersleben will receive financing from BMW for a season in a more advanced single-seater racing series in 2014.
