Innovations in the bicycle industry can now be registered online starting immediately for the EUROBIKE AWARD 2013. The registration deadline is 22 July 2013.

The EUROBIKE AWARD [Textfeld:] s will be presented in connection with the international EUROBIKE Show for the ninth time this year.

This year’s winners of the EUROBIKE AWARD will be honored to kick off the EUROBIKE Show, which is scheduled to take place in Friedrichshafen from 28 to 31 August 2013. The EUROBIKE GREEN AWARD 2013 will also be presented - to a product with particularly high ecological value.

Exhibitors at the international EUROBIKE Show can enter their product innovations online to receive the seal of quality in the bicycle industry up until 22 July 2013. Non-exhibitors are also welcome to participate. The competition is hosted by Messe Friedrichshafen and conceived and organized by iF.

The products entered should exhibit special aspects of innovation and design and cannot have been on the market for longer than two years at the time of the show. Entries will be accepted in the following categories:

Mountain Bikes - Hardtail, Enduro, Freerider, Downhill, Full-Suspension, BMX, Dirt Bikes
Cross Bikes - Cross Bike, Trekking Bike, Traveler Bike, All-Terrain Bike
Racing Bikes - Racing Bike, Triathlon Bike, Time Machine, Fitness Bike, Speed Bike
Urban Bikes - City Bike, Folding Bike, Cruiser, Design Bike, Cargo Bike, Family Transportation
Special Bikes - Recumbent Bike, Trike, Rickshaw, Velomobile, Tandem
E-Bikes/Pedelecs - Mountain Bike, Cross Bike, Racing Bike, Urban Bike, Special Bike, Battery and Recharger, Pedal Sensor, Brakes, Special Accessories
Apparel - Pants, Jerseys, Jackets, Footwear, Gloves
Parts/Components - Frame, Handelbars, Brakes, Gears, Crank Arm, Electrical Components, Pedals, Generator, Wheel, Fork, Saddle
Accessories - Speedometer, Water Bottle, Bell, Pump, Bar End, Bag, Light, Lock, Mud Guard, Tools, Glasses, Helmet, Tires

A panel of experts, who are scheduled to meet in Hannover on 13 and 14 August, will decide which entries will receive a EUROBIKE AWARD. After that, the GOLD award winners will then be selected from all the prizewinners. The following criteria will be taken into account in particular in the evaluation process: Aerodynamics, Efficiency, Ergonomics, Functionality, Weight, Utility, Design Quality, Degree of Innovation, Comfort, Load-Carrying Capacity, Brand Value/Branding, Choice of Material, Service, Safety, Stability, Environmental Compatibility and Workmanship.

The judges will include Nils Holger Moormann, designer, Aschau am Chiemsee/Germany, Peter Barzel, velopress editorial staff, Düsseldorf/Germany, Christoph Listmann, Bike Magazine, Munich/Germany, Andrea Reidl, freelance journalist Zeit Online and Spiegel Online, Buxtehude/Deutschland, Dr. Achim Schmidt, German Sport University of Cologne, Cologne/Germany and Helmut Stadler, Zweirad Center Stadler GmbH, Regensburg, Germany.

The official Awards Ceremony will take place during the EUROBIKE Show in the Foyer East/Friedrichshafen Exhibition Grounds on 28 August. All the award-winning products will be on display in the Foyer West during the show from 28 to 31 August.
