Two Panalpina Air Freight executives have been elected to the boards of two global air cargo associations. Lucas Kuehner joins the board of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and Jeannette Goeldi joins the board of Cargo 2000 (C2K). Their election ensures Panalpina remains at the forefront of important industry initiatives.

“We are delighted that Lucas Kuehner and Jeannette Goeldi have been elected to the boards of TIACA and C2K. They will bring our company’s vast air freight experience to the table and help drive changes in this industry, particularly in the area of e-freight and global quality standards,” says Karl Weyeneth, Panalpina’s Chief Operating Officer.

Kuehner is Panalpina’s Global Head of Air Freight and Goeldi is globally responsible for the company’s standards and governance in the Air Freight division.

TIACA and Cargo 2000 are global non-profit associations that represent all the major players in the air cargo industry. Both organizations encourage participation from a wider group of stakeholders and are comprised of major airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling agents, trucking companies and IT providers. TIACA members are additionally made up of airports, customs brokers, aircraft and equipment manufacturers, educational institutions and the trade press.

The objective of Cargo 2000 is to improve the quality and efficiency of air cargo. Processes, backed by measurable quality standards, are implemented globally, and members are audited and certified. Panalpina was one of the founding members of Cargo 2000 and today holds gold membership status. Goeldi is the first woman on the board of Cargo 2000, which consists of representatives from five airlines and six freight forwarders.

TIACA also seeks to enhance the quality and efficiency in the air cargo industry but its objectives cover additional topics such as e-commerce, security, environmental policies, customs practices, traffic rights agreements and the interests of the air cargo industry in general. TIACA’s annual Air Cargo Hall of Fame award recognizes and honors air cargo professionals for outstanding achievements. Kuehner will give 3PLs (Third-Party Logistics providers) a voice on the TIACA board.

Panalpina generates 47% of its net forwarding revenue with air freight. Approximately 15% of the company’s global air freight volumes are handled by Panalpina’s Own Controlled Network. The remaining volumes are procured with commercial carriers.
