IKEA Donates Almost $500,000 in Product, Services and In-Kind Donations to Charities Across the US

Conshohocken, PA - The votes are in and counted! IKEA announces the Life Improvement Challenge winners; a group consisting of 38 charitable organizations who are each being awarded $10,000 in IKEA products, services and in-kind donations.

The campaign began last fall when IKEA asked their co-workers to nominate and vote on their favorite local community project, one that they believed needed charitable support. The range of needs spanned from furnishing homeless shelters to renovating children’s play areas to supporting low income community food farms. Enthusiasm among the co-workers was high and over 80 inspiring proposals were submitted. Each co-worker proposal highlighted an organization that works to help improve the lives of others in their local communities.

After these submissions, the IKEA store steering committee selected up to three organizations for consumers and co-workers to cast their vote. This was accomplished by online voting at thelifeimprovementproject.com, which ran from March 25 – April 8th Thousands of consumers voted and the winning charities were announced April 10th. The total campaign donation amounts to almost $500,000 and includes IKEA furnishings, services, design and manpower.
