Alan Gibson unveils the new Mazda6

Over the weekend of 26-27th January, a nationwide event was held across Mazda dealerships to mark the launch of the all-new Mazda6. While the celebrations may be over, Alan Gibson is pleased to announce the inclusion of the new Mazda6 in Basingstoke in our line-up this year. Design-wise, the new 6 features the so-called “KODO – Soul of Motion” body shape and build, which will influence all future Mazda designs from this point onwards. Based on the design of the highly successful CX-5 SUV, the Mazda6’s flowing form and subtle contours create an instant impression. The front grille, in particular, grabs the attention of anyone who lays eyes on it. Thanks to the new design, the body itself is constructed from extremely lightweight materials, leading to increased cornering capability and overall responsiveness.
 
The interior of the Mazda6 is just as luxurious as the elegant exterior would suggest. In redesigning the cabin so that the controls are laid out unobtrusively and easily within reach, Mazda have created more space on the inside for both the driver and passengers. That’s why the 6 has been awarded a five-star safety rating from NCAP, and it’s why anyone who drives a Mazda6 has peace of mind on the road.
 
With a choice of either Saloon or Tourer, the Mazda6 is a powerful vehicle. The engine range (comprising a choice of 2.0-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel) gives a top speed of up to 139mph, and a 0-60mph acceleration of 10.5 seconds, which is very lively for a family car. There is also a choice of six-speed gearbox, either automatic or manual. Whichever you choose, though, you’ll feel the benefits of the SKYACTIV fuel technology, which has been implemented across the engine range. SKYACTIV is largely responsible for the Mazda6 winning the What Car? Car of the Year 2013 Ultra-low-carbon award, and with a combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of only 108g/km (saloon version), it’s easy to see why.
