The new Mazda6 was released in the UK on January 25, and Border Cars is delighted to feature it in its showrooms. Based on the design of the popular CX-5 SUV, the new Mazda6 looks set to further the manufacturer’s considerable success.

As only the second of Mazda’s new generation of cars to feature both SKYACTIV technology and “KODO – Soul of Motion” design, the new Mazda6 is emblematic of the manufacturer’s forward-thinking reputation. The car is available as either a Saloon or a Tourer, and it is composed of lightweight but tough materials, to mimic the graceful power of the cheetah.

Behind its polished exterior the Mazda6 is wonderfully spacious, with a tastefully minimalist ergonomic design and well-crafted, soft-touch upholstery. An uncluttered dashboard provides a wealth of sophisticated new technology at your fingertips, including a Multi Commander from which you can control your phone, navigation, and audio systems. Safety features are hardly lacking, with multiple airbags and a range of Driver Support functions contributing to the vehicle’s five-star EuroNCAP safety rating.

A 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine are available in both the Saloon and Tourer grades, and each is fitted with a six-speed automatic or manual gearbox. Revolutionary SKYACTIV technology enables each engine to display an outstanding combined fuel efficiency of up to 67.3 MPG, along with CO2 emissions as low as 108g/km. The Mazda6’s green credentials earned it a prestigious What Car? 2013 award, and the new model is truly one of the cleanest of its class, despite its formidable top speed of 139mph perhaps suggesting otherwise.
