League of Legends Tournaments Giving Away Big Bucks

 Florida, USA – League of Legends is a PC game that gamers throughout the world have been playing. As of January 11, 2013, there are one hundred and nine championships that players can choose from. Each player will start at opposing sides of a map in an area that is known as the Spawning Pool around the Nexus. When either one of the team’s Nexus is destroyed, the match is won. In order to destroy the Nexus, each team will be required to work through various Turrets that are placed along the path to each base. Each player will gain levels from killing the other team’s minions and champions. When a player completes objectives, they will be rewarded with gold, which can be used to purchase items in the game. 

League of Legends has had a great deal of success in the competitive gaming field. Back in 2010, World Cyber Games hosted a tournament for League of Legends. Competitors came from China, America and Europe in order to play in the tournament. The winners were from North America (the Counter Logic Gaming team) and they won a total of $7,000.00.  There was a tournament held in Sweden in 2011 where the winner took home $100,000 in prizes along with $50,000. Over the course of the event, there was over 210,000 viewers watching the match.

On October 13, 2012, Taipei Assassins (a professional team in Taiwan) won $1 million dollars in prize money during a League of Legends tournament. There are many other tournaments taking place around the world with big money up for grabs.  Gamers who wish to take advantage of the tournaments are encouraged to download League of Legends and start building up those gaming skills.
