The new Mazda6 will be released in the UK on January 25, and Lodge Garage Mazda in Aylesbury will be hosting an exclusive launch event for the car on the following weekend (January 26-27). Places are strictly limited, so motorists and Mazda fans are advised to register on the dealership’s website now.
 
The manufacturer has used their existing and award-winning CX-5 SUV as the primary inspiration for the new model, which will be available in both Saloon and Tourer models. Demonstrating the “KODO – Soul of Motion” design approach that will be applied to the next generation of Mazda models, the Mazda6 features a new face with redesigned front grille and bumper, and stronger aerodynamic body lines that flow back to the rear spoiler. In constructing the vehicle, a lightweight chassis has been incorporated to increase agility and handling.
 
When it comes to the interior, the arrangement of the cabin and use of premium materials has created an executive look. By encircling the driver’s seat with primary controls, Mazda offers more convenience for motorists. A substantial number of airbags are fitted to the vehicle as standard, in addition to the advanced Rear Vehicle Monitoring system and electronic driver supports. Upon testing the Mazda6, EuroNCAP awarded it their complete five-star rating for safety.
 
A choice of engines is available with the new Mazda6 Saloon and Tourer. Opt for 2.0-litre petrol models or 2.2-litre diesels, all of which produce a 0-60 speed of no more than 10.5 seconds. The manual transmission diesel saloon with 173bhp hits 0-60 in just 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 139mph. All engines are accompanied by a six-speed automatic or manual transmission and all are built with SKYACTIV technology, a brand new system from Mazda that lowers CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
