Miami, FL (January 16, 2013) –– The third in a series of classical piano concerts presented by the Miami International Piano Festival, “Four Classical Sundays at Five” will feature Sijing Ye of China on Sunday, February 3 at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Aventura, FL at 5 P.M.

About the Four Classical Sundays at Five Concerts
The Miami International Piano Festival has created the Four Classical Sundays at Five series as an addition to its regular season of programming.  These intimate, classical, salon-style piano recitals are presented at the beautiful, new Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and feature some of the most renowned artists from around the globe. In an effort to revitalize the tradition of the salon concerts of the 19th century, each artist is invited to break the barrier between artist and audience by revealing their insights and thoughts about the repertoire, the composers and their fascinating interpretations. This creates a level of intimacy between performer and spectator that is not typical at more conventional recitals.  A post-recital Meet-the-Artist reception allows audience and performers to get to know one another even further.

Sijing Ye
Sijing Ye was first presented by the Miami International Piano Festival in 2006 when she was only 14 years old as part of the “Prodigies and Masters of Tomorrow” program and she created an immediate sensation.  In addition to solo performances for hundreds of S. Florida school children at the Broward Center, Sijing’s performance of Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 with the Miami International Piano Festival Orchestra has been immortalized on YouTube. Along with her Lizst “La Campanella” encore these videos have been viewed over 20,000 times.  Since her first appearance at the Festival, Sijing has gone on to garner many prestigious awards, accolades and significant performance opportunities including first prize at the Gina Bachauer International Young Artist Piano Competition in 2008.

Born in Southern China in 1991, Sijing moved to New York two years after winning the Second Prize at the Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition in 2004 to study with Yoheved Kaplinsky at the Juilliard school (Pre-college), where she graduated in 2010. Sijing is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in piano performance at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.  Ye’s program for this encore recital will feature works by Chopin including Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Brahms’ Rhapsody Op. 79 No.1, Debussy’s Feux D’Artifice and Liszt’s Spanish Rhapsody.

“As we celebrate 16 years of a truly enriching and exciting journey into the world of the piano, the ‘Prodigies and Masters of Tomorrow’ program is still one of our special treasures,” noted the Miami International Piano Festival’s Artistic Director Giselle Brodsky. “It is especially gratifying to see these young musicians, that were identified at such an early age, mature into superb artists with such potential for vibrant careers and a real future in the world of music.”
