Extendable Silicone Nozzles for Caulking Guns Idea Comes From Plumber Horror Story

WEBWIRE

VICTORIA, Australia January, 2013 – As many Australians make New Year’s resolutions to kick off 2013, a plumber with over 15 years experience and inventor of bendable silicone nozzles for caulking guns, Alex John, urges Australians to make getting a basic first aid certificate one of the resolutions they actually fulfil.
Alex was an active, healthy young man when he went away on a boy’s weekend in February 2007. The boys, many of them plumbers and PTEU (Plumbing Trades Employment Union) members, rigged up their own ‘waterslide’ sliding down a hill and into the Murray River, Echuca, without a care in the world. It was not until Alex had his turn that it all went bad. www.bentoversiliconenozzles.com/

“I landed funny on my back and felt a sharp pain go through my body, I managed to walk back to camp but proceeded to pass out,” shares Alex. “Luckily my brother had just finished a First Aid course through the CFMEU (Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union) and knew that moving someone with a suspected spinal injury could be really dangerous, so rather than take me to the hospital themselves, they called the Ambulance.

“Turns out that was the best decision he had ever made. I had a fragment of bone 2 mm from my spinal cord from the compound fracture in my vertebrae. The doctors told me that had I not been treated properly, I probably would have suffered a severe spinal cord injury that could have left me a quadriplegic.”

But near quadriplegia turned into a blessing for Alex and the entire plumbing industry. “I remember laying in the hospital bed feeling helpless, watching the medical staff explain what had gone on in my spine by showing me a bendable ‘demo spine’ which they twisted and turned in all directions and I had a genuine ‘light bulb’ moment.

“I remembered how I’d always cursed the rigged silicone nozzles when using them on plumbing jobs as they didn’t allow me to get into all the nooks and crannies that needed silicone – and watching this spine bend in all directions gave me an idea to create a bendable silicone nozzle for caulking guns with as much flexibility as I was seeing in the demo spine,” explains Alex who is now back on his feet and fielding daily enquiries for his Australian-made and patented BENT-OVER Silicone Nozzles.   www.bentoversiliconenozzles.com/

The extendable silicone nozzles for caulking guns have a screw joint that can be attached to any standard silicone tube. The innovative design, which includes two ball joints, makes the flexible silicone nozzles for caulking guns able to move in any direction and more flexible than any other silicone nozzle on the market today. The nozzle can be lengthened by attaching more ball joints for optimum accessibility and movement. The BENT-OVER™ Silicone Nozzle is chemical resistant and can be cut to any desired length. Each pack purchased has 2 extendable silicone nozzles for caulking guns that are reusable which also makes this time-saver budget-wise. www.bentoversiliconenozzles.com/

Alex used his near-quadriplegia incident as an opportunity to make applying silicone easier for all plumbers, glaziers and spa and pool installers, but he urges Aussies to remember the key message:
“Hopefully you will never use it but everyone still needs to do a First Aid course and be aware of basic first aid because it really can save lives,” Alex says.
