LAS VEGAS - Jan. 8, 2013 - Movea (www.movea.com), the leader in motion processing and data fusion technologies, announced today its collaboration with Microchip Technology Inc. to integrate Movea’s MotionCore software with Microchip’s SMSC embedded controllers—effectively enabling new high performance sensor hub platforms. A demonstration of the integrated technology can be seen at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 7-11 at Microchip’s demo suite (by invitation) and in Movea’s demo suite (#669) at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (formerly Las Vegas Hilton).

The demonstration will feature Movea’s MotionCore Foundation package, including 3D orientation, tilt-compensated eCompass and continuous auto calibration modules. Running on Microchip’s soon-to-be-announced embedded controller platform, the system, which saves 10x the power consumption of traditional solutions, uses onboard 9-axis MEMS sensors to drive compelling mobile applications.

Movea’s MotionCore solution includes high performance, scalable and flexible data fusion software libraries that make it easy for sensor, processor and mobile platform vendors to offer a complete solution to smartphone and tablet OEMs/ODMs. MotionCore software modules are optimized for motion-based mobile applications, delivering increased performance while dramatically reducing power consumption.

“Thanks to the proliferation of sensors in mobile devices, these intelligent and contextually-aware devices now enable advanced services—from more intuitive user interface navigation to advanced pedestrian navigation, activity monitoring and contextual awareness,” said Bryan Hoadley, executive vice president of marketing and sales, and president of Movea. “We are excited to collaborate with Microchip in enabling our sensor hub architecture to cater to consumers’ growing appetite for smarter devices that anticipate and adapt to their needs.”

“The quality, performance and flexibility of Movea’s MotionCore software enables Microchip and our customers to develop enhanced mobile solutions and significantly advances the way we interact with our devices,” said Patrick Johnson, vice president and general manager of SMSC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microchip Technology, Inc. “Microchip is driving the innovation for high-quality and low-power-consumption embedded controllers, and we are excited to be working with Movea on these market-leading innovations.”

Movea and Microchip will together promote their combined solution to handset manufacturers, mobile operators and device manufacturers for applications that include computing platforms, indoor/pedestrian navigation, activity monitoring, motion gaming, augmented reality and gesture-based device/application control. Movea’s MotionCore software is now available to customers and partners for licensing.

Learn more about Movea’s MotionCore Solutions by visiting suite #669 in the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (next to the convention center) during CES from January 7 to 11, 2013.
