“Use a Counterfeit Micro-Needling Roller Device and Suffer the Consequences,” says Dermaroller ®

New York, NY – In recent years, micro-needling roller devices have been appearing everywhere, although many consumers are still unaware of the risks they take by using rollers manufactured in less-than-ideal conditions. Those who heed the following four “rules” when purchasing roller devices will not only protect their health, but will also notice a dramatic increase in the effectiveness of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) for their skin.

1.  Become an informed consumer.

Study the manufacturer of the product(s) you’re buying, as well as the materials they use.  Dermaroller ® – the German-based company that developed the micro-needling technique more than a decade ago – makes two different versions of its micro-needling roller device: Home and Medical. Both versions use surgical-quality needles and are assembled with expert medical engineering.

2.  Know who’s performing your treatment.

Only trained, medical professionals (M.D., D.O., N.D.) are allowed to handle the Medical Dermaroller ®. A licensed R.N. or P.A. (physician assistant) may also perform CIT if under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. (Some states do allow R.N.’s and P.A.’s to perform CIT without medical supervision. This device is not sold directly to the general public. That’s because CIT is a medical/surgical procedure requiring special training so that medical professionals can handle complications should they arise. In addition, each patient must be adequately assessed before CIT in order to determine whether their skin condition is suffering due to possible health issues.

3.  Know where your product comes from.

Dermaroller ® founder Horst Liebl, after years of patiently developing an instrument that would safely, effectively, and painlessly deliver substances deep into the skin, was vindicated by two clinical studies in 2000. These studies confirmed that micro-needles do indeed induce large amounts of new collagen, elastin fibers, and capillaries in human skin.  That same year, Dermaroller ® was patented in Germany and trademarked in the European Union (EU) and the United States. 4.  Know your facility.

Because CIT is a serious medical procedure, it needs to be performed in a sterile environment.  Whether the facility is a medical office or a medical spa, all instruments (including needles) must be sterile. The patient must also determine whether the professionals performing the procedure have been trained on the proper use of the Medical Dermaroller ®.
