Pöyry awarded energy consultancy services in Uruguay

WEBWIRE

Pöyry’s Energy business group has been awarded an owner’s engineering services assignment by UTE, Uruguay’s leading government owned power utility. The consultancy services relate to a new combined cycle power plant called “Punta del Tigre B” that will be erected in Uruguay. The contract includes a complete design review of the EPC contractor documentation.

The overall value of the assignment for Pöyry is approximately EUR 1.9 million and it will be booked in the fourth quarter order stock for 2012. The project will start in February 2013 and will be completed by the end of 2016.

In the public tendering process, Pöyry was selected as the winner out of seven bidders because of its technical excellence and competitive proposal that met the client’s expectations. The assignment strengthens Pöyry’s position in the Latin America energy sector.

“The project is yet further evidence of Pöyry’s strong global competence in both new and refurbished power plants which are fit for the future,” says Philipp Elkuch, Senior Vice President, Energy business group.
