Cox Media Group Welcomes aboard New TV Stations in Jacksonville, Tulsa

ATLANTA – Today,Cox Media Group (CMG) officially welcomes aboard the employees at new TV stations ̶ WAWS-TV (Fox) and WTEV-TV (CBS) in Jacksonville, Fla. and KOKI-TV (Fox) and KMYT-TV (MyNetwork) in Tulsa, Okla. The purchase was announced earlier this summer as part of CMG’s portfolio realignment to focus on larger markets.

Jacksonville’s WAWS-TV, WTEV-TV and MYTVJAX

WAWS-TV FOX30 is one of the top-rated FOX affiliates in the United States. In the Jacksonville-Brunswick area, WAWS-TV broadcasts on channel 30, on most Comcast cable systems on channels 10 and 434, and on Direct TV and Dish TV on channel 30. Subscribers of other cable or satellite systems may consult their providers for station lineup information. While WAWS-TV FOX30 is now owned by Cox Media Group, it also operates WTEV-TV, owned by Bayshore Television LLC., through a shared services arrangement. WTEV-TV CBS 47 is Jacksonville’s most-watched television station. Viewers can find WTEV programming on broadcast channel 47, on most Comcast cable systems on Channels 6 and 433, and on Direct TV and Dish TV on channel 47.

WAWS-TV also operates the My TV Network/Me TV station in the Jacksonville market on the digital sub channel 30.2. It is also available on Comcast Cable channels 29 and 436. Nielsen Media Research estimates the Jacksonville DMA comprises 659,170 TV households.

As part of its realignment strategy, CMG also announced this summer it will be selling its radio locations in Birmingham, Ala.; Greenville, S.C.; Hawaii; Louisville, Ky.; Richmond, Va.; and Southern Connecticut, as well as television stations in four markets ̶ El Paso, Texas; Johnstown, Pa.; Reno, Nev.; and Steubenville, Ohio.
