Energy Future Holdings and Its Employees Contribute More Than $185,000 for Red Cross Disaster Relief

DALLAS – – Responding to emergencies in Texas as well as Hurricane Sandy’s immense devastation, Energy Future Holdings and its employees have contributed more than $185,000 in 2012 for the American Red Cross’s relief efforts to provide care for those in need.

With operations across Texas, EFH partners with multiple local Red Cross agencies to help individuals, families and communities rebuild after disasters. The company’s support also extends to the Red Cross’s national and global humanitarian work. When Hurricane Sandy struck, EFH and its employees from EFH Business Services, TXU Energy and Luminant were quick to contribute to the massive response.

“At EFH, we take pride in being a good neighbor, whether the need is nearby in the Texas communities where we live and work or across the nation or world,” said EFH’s CEO John Young. ”Our employees can always be counted on to donate their time and money when the need arises. And we know that through the Red Cross, we can make a real difference to those who have lost so much.”

“Without the support that we receive from generous donors like Energy Future Holdings, the Red Cross would not be able to bring critical support to those left in crisis after disaster,” said T.D. Smyers, chief executive officer, American Red Cross North Texas Region. ”We are eager to use this gift and continue helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy and other disasters navigate through one of the most difficult chapters in their lives.”

About Energy Future Holdings

EFH is a Dallas-based holding company engaged in competitive and regulated energy market activities, primarily in Texas. Its portfolio of competitive businesses consists primarily of TXU Energy, a retail electricity provider with approximately 1.8 million customers in Texas, and Luminant, which is engaged largely in power generation and related mining activities, wholesale power marketing and energy trading. Luminant has approximately 15,400 MW of generation in Texas, including 2,300 MW fueled by nuclear power and 8,000 MW fueled by coal. Luminant is also one of the largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity in Texas and fifth largest in the United States. EFH’s regulated operations consist of Oncor, which operates the largest electricity distribution and transmission system in Texas with more than three million delivery points and 118,000 miles of distribution and transmission lines. While EFH indirectly owns approximately 80 percent of Oncor, the management of Oncor reports to a separate board with a majority of directors that are independent from EFH.
