Telstra’s highly successful small and medium business magazine Smarter Business Ideas™, published by ACP Magazines, will today become the first business magazine in Australia to launch an app across both the iOS and Android platforms, with the arrival of the new Smarter Business Ideas app.

Group Managing Director for Telstra Business, Will Irving said the app, which is free to download and doesn’t require a subscription to view the content, will put exclusive material at the fingertips of busy business professionals who are increasingly on the move.

“Research shows that more than 40 per cent of small and medium business (SMB) owners spend a quarter of their time out of the office and 46 per cent say they are more likely to allow their staff to work remotely with the advent of higher speed mobile broadbandą,” Mr. Irving said.

“With Telstra investing in the comprehensive roll-out of Australia’s first national superfast 4G LTE mobile network it’s the perfect time for us to leverage our content across a medium that complements business people’s lifestyle,” he said.

About 15 per cent of Australians already use tablet devices, with predictions this will double to 30 per cent by the end of 2013. Tablet sales are expected to reach 2.37 million by the end of 2012˛.

Mr. Irving said the business magazine is unique in the Australian business publishing environment, exclusively featuring Australian content focusing on the issues, challenges and personal business stories of local enterprise.

“As Australia’s biggest business magazine we’re launching for both platforms so businesses across the board can access it and benefit from the specialised content and advice featured,” continued Mr. Irving.

ACP Magazines Publishing Director, Gerry Reynolds, said: “We are proud to be able to launch Telstra’s Smarter Business Ideas magazine on both the Apple and Android platforms simultaneously.

“ACP has led Australia in publishing app versions of our brands, creating the best in tablet magazines including Gourmet Traveller and The Australian Women’s Weekly and the first client tablet magazines. We are thrilled to see this great magazine reach an even wider business audience through their tablets,” he said.

Built on Adobe’s digital publishing suite enterprise edition, app users can move seamlessly and easily to interact with content and share information. With unlimited space opportunities in the digital format, the app edition will offer a plethora of visual content including embedded video case studies of business people sharing their learnings and winning ways, technology ‘how to’ guides, reviews and trends.

The kick off app edition includes an interactive debt collection table and a 3D feature providing a 360-degree walk around product experience.

Telstra will continue to provide the printed edition and include a VIEWA augmented reality app to give readers access to digital content, including videos and product showcases, to download via their smartphones.

The Smarter Business Ideas app can be downloaded on Apple’s iOS platform or the Android Jelly Bean, Ice-cream Sandwich and Honeycomb 3.2+ platforms. To find it, tablet owners simply need to search for “Smarter” in the Google Play or the App store.
