More Renters, Less Buyers

HARRISBURG, Pa. September 25 -- There’s a growing national trend toward city and suburban living, in particular, suburban areas within walking distance to cities. Due to a still-sluggish economy and today’s more stringent mortgage loan requirements, renting is becoming more popular in the demographic that used to be considered first-time buyers.

According to a study conducted by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University, this trend is expected to continue to have a major impact on the choice of housing for individuals between the ages of 25 and 34 through 2020.
