About Deron Williams
A three-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Deron Williams has cemented himself as one of the top point guards in the game. Helping to lead the Brooklyn Nets with his unselfish leadership, size, strength and proficiency on both ends of the floor, the 6’3" scoring machine is in his eighth NBA season, and third with his current team. D-Will was selected third overall in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, where he led the team as the point man for five years, before smoothly transitioning into a new role as leader of the New Jersey-turned-Brooklyn Nets. During the 2011 NBA lockout, the University of Illinois alum competed with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League, highlighted by a 50-point performance during a EuroChallenge game. A fan favorite and major contributor to his overseas squad, Williams’s #8 jersey was retired by Besiktas just prior to his returning to the NBA. He also played on the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic teams, both of which brought home the gold medal. A leader on and off the court, the West Virginia native’s commitment to the community is reflected in his Point of Hope Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and their families.
