Brown Coffee Co. Inks Whole Foods Deal in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The Brown Coffee Company (www.BrownCoffeeCo.com), a buyer, roaster, and purveyor of specialty coffees, announces it will begin selling single-origin whole bean coffees in Whole Foods Markets in the San Antonio area. The deal marks the coffee company’s first expansion into the Austin-based grocery chain that focuses on selling high quality natural and organic products.

The Brown Coffee Company was founded in 2005 to source premium coffees and bring them to the San Antonio market. It focuses almost exclusively on light-to-medium-roasted single-origin coffees, including decaffeinated coffees, that highlight each geographic area’s distinct flavor profiles. The company currently sells whole bean coffees online via sites such as Amazon.com, roaste.com and through its own website, as well as locally from its roasterie/café in San Antonio’s Deco District.

Aaron Blanco, the company’s founder and president, said he is pleased at the development. “This step represents a big win for our small company. We have always believed that the kinds of products we offer are a good match for a great company like Whole Foods, where the focus is on quality, sustainability and transparency. We are thrilled to have a new avenue to tell the story of these beautiful coffees and the amazing people who produce them.” Blanco estimates that upwards of 90% of the company’s coffee supply is purchased directly from coffee growers in countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Papua New Guinea.Mr Blanco did not have an expected timeline for when the company’s coffees would be on the shelves at Whole Foods Market.
