Drinking Games.ME - a Vermont based drinking games website - announced that its Editor-in-Chief Russ Hudson was interviewed by prominent Canadian journalist and radio talk show host Jeff Johnson.  The interview was part of GameNTrain’s coverage of the East Kootenay Beer Festival in Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia.

Hudson, who has come under fire recently for operating the site, said during the interview that drinking games have been played by various cultures for thousands of years - particularly by the Greeks and Chinese.  He specifically mentioned that the modern game of beer pong actually originated with the Greeks, and went on to explain that today’s beer pong has become an international sport;

“Beer pong, for instance, is considered a very serious international sport with prize money up to - sometimes - fifty thousand dollars.”

A quick check shows that this is correct, with beer pong games in Las Vegas netting the winning team $50,000, and other cash prizes totaling thousands of dollars for other teams and related events.  Governing bodies for the sport include the Beer Pong League in the United Kingdom and Europe, and BPONG.com in the United States.

Johnson - who interviewed Hudson as part of the 12th episode of the GameON radio show and podcast - was interested in both the newest drinking games, and the strangest.  Hudson indicated that television, movies and social media were providing fodder for a slew of modern media style drinking games, and even said that these types of games might be the most popular and plentiful at this time.

According to him, the wackiest drinking game the editor has seen is Beer Bungee, but strangely enough, Hudson could not remember the name of this game during the interview.  Beer Bungee is a game that pits a player against his or her own balance and a bungee cord.  The player is given a full drink to hold and is tied by the leg to a stationary object, with another drink placed just out of reach.  The object is to carefully get to the second drink without spilling the first.

Hudson also indicated during the interview that the site had produced a full-length book and a free online drinking game, and said that anyone is welcome to either or both free of charge.  The entire interview can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDvShAY-vl8&feature=plcp.  Jeff Johnson reports and interviews for the GameNTrain show and podcast called GameON.  The full version of Episode 12 of GameON, which follows the first East Kootenay Beer Festival, can be found at: http://gamentrain.com .

DrinkingGames.ME is an aptly named website dedicated to drinking games and its associated culture.  The site features articles and instructions for nearly 100 games, and has several more online drinking games in development.  The site’s book, titled “Drinking Games A-Z,” has been published but has not been publicly announced as of the date of this press release.  For questions, to schedule an interview with Russ Hudson or to order a press kit, please visit the company website at http://www.drinkinggames.me or call 1-802-738-0775
