Confio to Offer Tips for Running Oracle RAC on VMware in Live Webinar

WEBWIRE

Boulder, Colo., June 20, 2012 – Confio Software will hold a free, live webinar event on Wednesday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. ET, 7:00 p.m. UTC/GMT discussing best practices for running Oracle RAC on VMware. The webinar will be hosted by Kathy Gibbs, one of Confio’s senior Oracle database administrators (DBAs), and is designed to help Oracle DBAs learn how to leverage RAC and vSphere capabilities to further enhance and stabilize the RAC failover and load balancing capabilities.

Among other topics, attendees will learn how to efficiently scale a RAC environment by cloning an existing RAC VM in vSphere and quickly adding it to the virtual environment. Gibbs will also discuss how to monitor RAC on VMware to ensure it is operating at the same performance level as RAC on a physical host.

Those interested in attending the webinar can register here.

“Running RAC on VMware is a powerful combination. Organizations get the high-availability and cost savings of VMs combined with the reliability and failover capabilities of database clusters,” said Gibbs. “The result can be a database system with potentially even greater performance and reliability than a physical environment. However, there a few key items that DBAs should know to achieve optimum results.”
