Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of database and developer tools, will present an Educational Breakout session and showcase its tools in (booth 1420) at the COLLABORATE 12 conference, being held April 22-26, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Joshua Travers and Scott Walz will present “Metadata Management: Putting the Management into Your Metadata” at 1pm on Wednesday, April 25 in Educational Breakout session #964.

This session will lay down best practices for ensuring your metadata is accessible and clear for every user. Organizations are plagued by both the over-organized metadata dictionary and the dirty-closet metadata dictionary. In either case, distributing data definitions to disparate users is a struggle. The answer to this is to use metadata search services to discover and distribute metadata. After all, why organize when you can just search searchable and accessible metadata.  Poor quality of the metadata and duplication across systems can ultimately make it more difficult for business users to understand or, worse, to trust their search results. The upshot is structuring and tagging the metadata upfront – even with a robust search function in place – will optimize the search, retrieval and interrogation of the results for end users.
