Baltimore Boot Camp Owner Wins Excellence Achievement Award

WEBWIRE

Baltimore Fit Body Boot Camp owner Jeff Sherman has been awarded the Fit Body Excellence Achievement Award for his efforts to improve his community through boot camp services. Jeff said he has made it his ongoing goal to improve the general fitness of Baltimore residents with his blog, his fitness boot camps, and also by hosting events that donate proceeds to local charities.

Jeff says his most recent goal is to get Baltimore out of Men’s Health Magazine’s Fattest City’s in The US listing. He said he aimed to get the community involved by giving away 1,000 copies of his Rapid Fat Loss DVD for free from his website baltimorefitbodybootcamp.com

According to Jeff, the DVD workout is very relatable to his Baltimore boot camp classes. He said it includes “the same fat burning workouts that (his) boot camp members do to get amazing transformations.”

His boot camp program currently has over 200 members; he holds eight sessions Mondays through Fridays, and three on Saturdays. All of his charity events take place during the Saturday classes.

During a typical Baltimore Fit Body boot camp class members spend forty-five minutes focusing on building specific areas of the body through “personal coaching” administered by a boot camp instructor.

Jeff said he works with everyone in the program to create fitness goals they will be able to complete within a month’s time. He said the goals are based on a complete fitness and nutrition evaluation all members receive. Baltimore Fit Body Boot Camp’s “Wall of Fame” is full of writing by members who have reached significant fitness goals they set for themselves. Some members have even crossed out their old markings and replaced them with higher goals they recently achieved. Jeff also holds a weekend “leader board” event where participants compete, not only to beat their personal best, but against other members in specific fitness challenges. Those members at the top of the competition have their names displayed on the leader board wall, for as long as they are at the top of the competition.

Another wall in Baltimore Fit Body Boot Camp’s gym displays a sign with bold letters that read “neverstopfitness.com”; this is the name to Jeff’s blog-- which has over 3,000 subscribers-- where he writes Baltimore fitness and nutrition advice for anyone who wants to visit the site, not just members of his Baltimore boot camps

He also said he enjoys getting involved in his community, by using his gym to help support local charities he donates to throughout the year.

Every Saturday, Jeff allows anyone to attend boot camp, member or non-member-- as long as they bring a canned good to donate to the Maryland Food Bank. He said during any charity event members are encouraged to invite friends and family to donate to a local cause, and in exchange the guests are allowed to participate in a boot camp session for free.

The ideas for which charities to support often come from the “Fit Body Family”, which includes all of Jeff’s members and staff. Most recently they raised money for leukemia and lymphoma society, and they have previously raised money for local children’s charities, animal shelters and diabetes research.
