Members of a Manchester social group will take part in the Three Peaks Challenge in July to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.

The team from Social Circle will climb the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland in one weekend.

Stephen Sutherland of Social Circle, who has completed the challenge previously, said: “Climbing the breathtaking Three Peaks is something each of us should do in our lifetime. We’re expecting people to enjoy the challenge but we’re not expecting Olympic standard. We won’t be doing anything too ambitious, like attempting to do it in 24 hours. We will complete the challenge over the course of a weekend whilst socialising and putting the emphasis on fun. This is the chance of a lifetime to have fun whilst achieving a truly great milestone.”

The climbs of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon will be professionally conducted and fully backed up by qualified first aid trained leaders.

Last year members of Social Circle covered the 800 miles of the Three Peaks Challenge in just over 15 hours. It took them just over four hours to climb Scafell Pike and the same time for Snowdon and only six hours to climb Ben Nevis.

Bowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice.

Social Circle (www.social-circle.co.uk) is Manchester’s premier social and adventure network. It organises fun activities for professional people, including social events, outdoor activities and weekends away.
