Facebook Timeline for Brands Launches With Some Flaws

Facebook Timeline for Brands has launched today, and while there are some pretty cool updates, there are some flaws that you must know about prior to implementing.

(2/29/2012 - Austin, Texas) - Today, Facebook has launched the business portion of Facebook Timeline, known as Facebook Timeline for Brands.  This update will provide some great features, such as an 850 x 315 cover photo, pinned posts, and a more convenient admin tool for Page managers.  

While some of these updates are great, there are also some flaws that may make you hate the new Facebook Timeline for Brands.  You will lose your ’welcome’ tab, control of posts on the top right hand side, spacing errors, and have photo sizing flaws.  Perhaps worst of all is that once you go live on the Facebook Timeline for Brands, you cannot revert back.

“The loss of the ’welcome’ tab was an unwelcome surprise,“ says Black Box Social Media Co Founder Curt Maly. “Equally disappointing is the fact that I couldn’t revert back into the old format.”

Facebook will give people until the 30th of March to figure out how to adapt to these changes, but the inability to revert back to the old format until then is a serious flaw.

"Quite frankly, the spacing issues and the way some of the photos look on Facebook isn’t really that impressive,” says CEO Tom Bukacek.  “I’m amazed that while Facebook claims to be going the direction of photos, Google+ seems to really be crushing them when it comes to pictures.”

Again, while there are some great improvements to the format, there are some flaws that we hope will be improved upon.
