Online Sports Service Builds on Mobile Momentum with Android App

TeamSnap, a leading web service for managing sports teams and leagues, today released its Android app to allow coaches and team managers to manage their teams on the go.  “We have seen tremendous adoption of our iPhone app – mobile user visits now represent an astonishing 40% of the total, ” said Dave DuPont, CEO of TeamSnap.  “With the addition of an Android app, we expect to quickly cross the threshold where more than half our visits come from mobile.”  

TeamSnap previously reported that its mobile traffic reached 36% at the end of 2011.  The company said that torrid downloads of the iOS app since then had resulted in mobile traffic climbing from 36% to 40% in just 5 weeks. "Customer utilization of the TeamSnap iPhone app, already quite robust, has actually accelerated,” added DuPont.

“As the coach, it is great that I can check to see who’ll be at each practice and game while I am on the go,” said Ryan Thomas, coach of the South Delta Spitfires in Ladner, British Columbia.   “I am not always in front of a computer, but I need to know who is able to attend so I can make a practice plan or game lineup.  I am so excited about the Android app that I will be implementing it soon for two other teams I am involved with.”

TeamSnap’s Android app works like the company’s iPhone app. Users can perform tasks like checking a team’s schedule, accessing team member contact information, sending messages to the team, or pulling up driving directions to games and practices.
