Rottenstein Law Group Hopeful Congress Will Take Appropriate Actions to Effectively Protect the Public From the Dangers of Surgical Mesh

(New York, NY, February 15, 2012) The Rottenstein Law Group, which represents clients with claims stemming from the harmful effects of surgical mesh, hopes the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Energy and Commerce holds “hearings to examine whether FDA device regulation has been ineffective in protecting the public from dangerous medical devices like the Lap-Band and intravaginal mesh” and seeks “documents from the manufacturers of surgical mesh to ascertain when they first learned of the safety issues associated with certain uses of the device and what, if any, actions [the manufacturers] took to limit risks for patients.”

The actions are requested by three Democratic members of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Energy and Commerce in a January 20, 2012 letter sent to the committee’s chairman. The letter is a renewal of its authors’ October 2011 request that the committee take these steps.
