There have been a number of health scares and concerns regarding the use of mobile phones and the effect that they may have on our health.

Radiation of the right kind, over prolonged periods of time can have harmful effects. However, because the side effects of this mobile phone radiation on our health are not well known, many studies have been conducted and some reveal conflicting results. Despite this, the World Health Organisation has classified mobile phone radiation on the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) scale into Group 2B; a group reserved for agents that are ‘possibly carcinogenic’.

To solidify its status however, further long-term studies must be conducted to assess the full impact of mobile phone radiation on people’s health.

The Managing Director of The Snugg, Mr Richard Mercer States:

“Many people, particularly concerned parents, see this as a problem. Some do worry about the possible effects of this radiation on their children’s health, but of course it’s very difficult to monitor someone’s phone usage unless you are with them all the time. So what we’ve done, is we’ve manufactured an anti-radiation iPhone 4 Case from new, innovative materials that reduces cell phone radiation by around 90%, according to the tests carried out in our manufacturers laboratories. That way, people can feel a little more at ease about spending time on the phone without having to ‘cut down’ on talk time”

The case has been trialled and tested by accredited officials in their manufacturer’s laboratories, who revealed that the case reduces mobile phone radiation (SAR) by 92% and hot spot radiation (EFI) by 90%

Radiation is effectively what makes a mobile phone work. When it transmits and receives signals it emits radiation. However, it does this indiscriminately in all directions and so when we speak to someone on the phone, some of this radiation reaches our heads.

“What our case does is it funnels some of this radiation away, where the case acts like a second antenna, relying on a technique known as passive antennae coupling. This radiation of course is more notable during smartphone use as they send and receive more data than conventional phones, so we’ve created our first case to fit the iPhone 4 and 4S” adds Mr Mercer.

The Snugg has been retailing iPhone cases and iPad Cases since the introduction of the first iPad and it has since gone on to become a best-seller internationally, most notably for their iPad 2 Cases and more recently for their new Kindle Fire Case. The addition of this anti-radiation phone case reaffirms their interest in bringing new, innovative and useful accessories to the market.

“We have spent considerable time creating this product based upon the research that we’ve conducted and we feel that this is something that will put a lot of consumers’ minds at ease; at least until the scientific community can come to a more solid conclusion on the effects of mobile phone radiation on our health. We are currently working on ensuring that we can meet demand when we choose to release it closer to Christmas” says Mr Mercer.

The new anti-radiation case will be available on the Snugg website and on Amazon later this December.
