Oxnard Hyundai Confirms, Hyundai Motor America Confirms 2013 Veloster Turbo

November 9, 2011 – Oxnard, Calif. – Oxnard Hyundai is excited to confirm, Hyundai Motor America’s CEO John Krafcik confirmed the automaker is planning a turbocharged Veloster.
  
The 2013 Veloster Turbo is scheduled to Debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January.
    
According to Hyundai, a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine will power the Veloster. The engine is expected to be the recently announced turbocharged version of the inline-four that’s in the current Veloster, which produces 204 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. This is compared with the current engine that makes 138 horsepower and 123 lb.-ft of torque.

Hyundai is displaying custom versions of the Veloster at the SEMA show to illustrate what customizers can do with the model.
  
Also revealed was that the Genesis Coupe will receive some tweaking, but details won’t be released until the Detroit auto show. Release dates for the 2013 Veloster Turbo and 2013 Genesis Coupe aren’t yet available but both cars are expected to arrive dealer showrooms by mid-2012.
