HEMEFund Worldwide Wants Your Help To Build Schools For Afghan Widows And Children

The HEMEFund, a non-profit and non-governmental organization, has announced it wants your help to build schools for Afghan widows and children.

The HEMEFund, www.hemefund.org, is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that has recently announced it is requesting donations to help build schools for Afghan widows and children.  With a past of over three decades of war in the country, this organization wants to do more than help the situation of poverty.  It wants to give the widows and the children in the country a solution.

Founder, William Seo, went to Afghanistan in 2008 on military orders.  While there, he was instantly alarmed by the conditions in the country.  Women and children were living on the street and begging for food and money.  Instantly, he began helping them in anyway possible and started by collecting shoes for them.  The HEMEFund is the result of his efforts.

According to Seo, HEME stands for Housing, Education, Medical, and Employment. Those are the four main areas we focus on to support the communities around the world. We help in all of these areas, but by helping to build the schools for the Afghan widows and their children, we are going to give them a solution.?

In Afghanistan, women are treated much differently than in other countries.  Their education is not a top priority, as it is the norm for the man to support their families.  Due to the conflicts, however, many of these women have been left widows.  This means that they are unable to support their children on their own. 

What HEMEFund is doing is creating schools that are designed especially for these widows.  The two-month long school will leave them with the ability to read and write.  They will also learn the valuable skill of sewing and each one that graduates will be provided with a new sewing machine.  In this way, the organization is giving them the solution to end their poverty.
