FMSI Engages LeanForward to Expand its Online University

In 2006 after a couple of false starts with other elearning providers, FMSI engaged LeanForward to develop FMSI University, an online training resource for its geographically dispersed client base.  “The business case for moving to elearning was quite compelling.” said W. Michael Scott, President and CEO of FMSI.  “We knew elearning would reduce costs and accelerate adoption of our workforce optimization software.  However, at first we didn’t realize that providing our clients with 24x7x365 access to engaging and interactive elearning would prove to be a strong differentiator between FMSI and our competitors.”

Since FMSI originally engaged LeanForward it has updated its Teller Management System (TMS) and added two new business intelligence solutions, the ContactCenter Management System (CMS) and the Lobby Tracking System (LTS).  These solutions have enabled FMSI to offer its existing clients more services while also expanding its client base.

“Client feedback on FMSI University has been overwhelming positive so we knew we should expand our online training offerings to include our new CMS and LTS.” said Peggy Guthrie, Vice President Client Services.  “We had not kept up with the elearning industry so we felt we should evaluate a number of potential elearning vendors for this project.  However, it was an easy decision to stay with LeanForward as they offered us a proven track record of quality elearning and excellent customer service.”

The elearning developed by LeanForward includes numerous software simulations which allow end users to practice important tasks as often as needed in a safe and secure environment.  The training also includes challenging knowledge assessments that require end users to really master the content before they can complete the training and receive their certificate of completion.

In addition to developing custom elearning on FMSI’s workforce optimization software, LeanForward has also developed a separate course to help existing FMSI clients transition from their current application to FMSI’s newest business intelligence solutions.  This interactive course uses an Avatar (animated character) to engage end users and introduce them to FMSI’s new solutions.  “What was originally intended solely as a transition course has turned out to be a valuable sales tool as well.” said Mr. Scott.  “The transition course does an excellent job explaining our value proposition and presents our solutions in a visually appealing manner that makes a great first impression.”

LeanForward is also providing its hosted LearnPoint Learning Management System (LMS) to power FMSI University.  LearnPoint has significantly reduced the administrative burden associated with managing and documenting FMSI’s client training initiatives.  LearnPoint enables end users to self register for FMSI University, assigns them the appropriate training based on their specific role and automatically documents their online training activity.  FMSI as well as its clients can then monitor end user progress.
