Digital Information Product Purchases Double

Over the past 5 years, the number of digital information products that have been purchased over the internet has more than doubled. There are hundreds of thousands of digital products for sale online, ranging anywhere from weight loss diet guides to step-by-step manuals for creating your own green energy home.

Unfortunately, due to this popularity, there have also been an increasing number of online scams. “It’s sad,” says Matt Turner, one of the managing staff members at GuardianReviews.com, a popular digital product review site. "There are thousands of great products out there, but bad ones pop up everyday. We’re busy here.” 

It’s a new problem for the digital information product industry. While the amount of money spent on how-to information keeps increasing, poor products with a heavy marketing budget threaten to contaminate the good products.

“Information products are extremely helpful to many people,” says Tom Haverford, who used a green energy guide to help build solar panels for his home. "But if someone purchases a poor product, it sharply decreases the chances they buy other information products, hurting the entire industry.”

It’s people like Tom that Matt Turner and other staff members at GuardianReviews.com are trying to help. "We spend time researching each product to ensure it meets our standards before posting any information about it on Guardian Reviews,” Matt explains.

Over the past week, visits at Guardian Reviews have increased by more than 800%. Managing editors at Guardian Reviews expect that number will only continue to increase as more of their visitors purchase digital products.
