State-of-the-art veterinary facility uses Vision Control® louvers-within-glass

Helps promote recovery-friendly environment

MONTREAL, Canada – September 28, 2011 – Unicel Architectural, the leading manufacturer of vision and daylight control solutions, announced the completion of a project that includes the installation of its Vision Control® insulated glass units (IGU) with integrated cord-free louvers in the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s new $72 million companion animal medical center.

The Randall B. Terry, Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center (Terry Center) more than doubles the current size of the teaching hospital with new examination rooms, surgical suites, an expanded intensive care unit and more. The teaching hospital and Terry Center are one of the largest and most technologically advanced veterinary facilities in the US.

“We are delighted to be a part of this state-of the-art project. The Terry Center sets a new standard for excellence in architectural design for veterinary facilities,” said Jean-Francois Couturier, CEO of Unicel. “The ability to easily control daylight and privacy in any medical facility is a must for optimal healing environments. Our Vision Control® solution provides a hygienic, durable, maintenance-free and attractive alternative to traditional blinds, curtains or shades.”

Small Kane Webster Conley Architects of Raleigh, NC, along with Foil Wyatt Architects & Planners of Jackson, MS, and Jova Daniels Busby of Atlanta, GA, sought to build a veterinary medical center that would take advantage of natural light to help facilitate animal recovery and make provision for privacy requirements. Unicel Architectural’s Vision Control® and Vision Control® Mini were selected for primary locations around the operating suites, conference rooms, intensive care units and corridors to allow for daylight control and adjustable privacy levels.
