Health Net Sponsors 2011 Congressional Medal of Honor Convention and Star-Studded Tribute Concert

More than 50 Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and their guests will participate in events designed to honor their service, sacrifice and deeds of heroism.

In recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Congressional Medal of Honor, Health Net and Humana Military Healthcare Services will present, “A Tribute to American Valor,” a star-studded patriotic variety show honoring the nation’s armed forces and distinguished heroes. The sold-out show is scheduled to take place Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at the KFC Yum Center in downtown Louisville. More than 400 entertainers, singers and dancers are scheduled to perform before the 10,000 spectators.

Local, regional and national talent will highlight Medal of Honor history, and the tribute will be broadcast live to U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and throughout the world.

Featured celebrity appearances will include television and film star, Dennis Haysbert; country music sensation and multi-music award winner, Darryl Worley; Grammy-nominated and Entertainer of the Year, Tony Orlando; and other special guests. Health Net pays tribute to all who wear the Medal of Honor, including noted U.S. Army Veterans like Robert Foley, Allen Lynch and Walter Marm. Foley received the Medal of Honor in May 1968, Lynch in May 1970, and Marm in December 1966, for heroic and selfless efforts during the Vietnam War. The three Veterans are among the 85 living recipients today.
