New Price/Performance Leaders add H.264 at 30fps Capabilities in MiniDome, Fixed-Angle Box Configurations

ORLANDO, FL, (ASIS 2011 Booth #2127) – Sony Electronics announced three new standard definition network cameras that raise the bar on price/performance to further enhance its comprehensive offering of SD and HD network cameras. The fixed-angle SNC-EB520, Minidome SNC-EM520 and Minidome vandal proof SNC-EM521 are capable of capturing images at 30fps in either H.264, MPEG4 or JPEG compression.

These fully featured cameras are SD variants on proven, popular HD Sony designs – the SNC-CH120/DH120/DH120T. The addition of H.264 compression to Sony’s SD lineup make these ideal in a diverse range of applications that require maximum bandwidth-efficiency.

“The demand for standard definition network cameras continues to grow since they play an essential role in most installations delivering great performance and maximum value,” said Miguel Lazatin, marketing manager, Sony Electronics Security Solutions Division. “Now, offering SD imaging with H.264 compression allows for tremendous efficiency for situations where protecting bandwidth resources is crucial.”

All three cameras utilize the high performance 1/3type progressive scan Exmor CMOS sensor with a native resolution of 1.4 megapixels and support resolutions from 800x600 (SVGA) to 320x240 (QVGA). Each has a vari-focal lens. The SNC-EB520 has a 2.6x optical zoom and operates at a minimum illumination of 0.47 lx in color, 0.27 lx in black & white. The SNC-EM520/EM521 have a 2.9x optical zoom and incorporate Easy Focus and Powered zoom with a minimum illumination of 0.50lx in color, 0.30lx in black & white for SNC-EM520/EM521. These network cameras also receive power over Ethernet (POE), making installation simple and increasing the flexibility of where the cameras can be used.

Other Special features

Built-in IR-cut filter – Day and Night functionality

• Removing the IR-cut filter in a low light-intensity environment improves the sensitivity, thus excellent visibility.

• The video/images will be monochromatic.

DEPA compatible

• When matched with appropriate Sony software and network recorders, these devices are compatible with DEPA (Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture) enabling advanced image processing that can trigger an alarm based on predetermined parameters.

Availability & Pricing

The fixed-angle SNC-EB520, Minidome SNC-EM520 and Minidome vandal proof SNC-EM521 are planned to be available in quantity by Q4 2011 with pricing for each to be announced prior to that.
