Providing a better quality of service, faster time to market, reduced costs and increased service availability

Paris - Atos, an international IT services company, helped Rai Net, a subsidiary of RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana, which is responsible for RAI’s online presence, to expand real-time and on-demand webTV services and to improve service quality, both for internal users (RAI’s editors and reporters) and open web-publication through the operation of RAI’s Internet portals. Atos is participating at IBC, the leading European trade show for broadcasters and content creators taking place in Amsterdam 9 – 13 September and will be showcasing its “New power in the media market” in Hall 9, booth C25.

Atos provided Rai Net with a complete analysis of their existing operations and realization of a best-practice based service model, design of IT processes, services and realization. The company continues to deliver 24/7 on-site and SLA based (ITIL® aligned) operation management services of the whole IT infrastructure and applications of Rai Net (more than 700 web-sites of the various RAI’s TV and radio programmes, including the RAI’s webTV and video streaming services, delivered on rai.it and rai.tv Internet portals), monitoring the publishing quality and the public availability of the content.

Moreover, Atos provides Rai Net with early adoption of new media technologies and with holistic IT process and service design and realization to introduce new webTV services. These services include: playing video content over the Internet in High Definition format, replaying previous shows and events of the current TV program while it is on air including watching TV programs from the past few weeks, selecting them from an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) shown through the browser.

Marco Nuzzo, Chief Operations Officer at Rai Net: “With the support of Atos, we have been able to improve the quality of services delivered to our customers, both internal (RAI) and external. We achieved a fast time to market, launched innovative services, increased the number of their users and, at the same time, we optimized our IT infrastructure costs. Atos has been an IT partner that has delivered first-class services to support us in operating our systems and in the design and introduction of new services. We look forward to working with them on other innovations in the near future”.

Vincenzo Cammarata, Head of Media Sector at Atos in Italy: “We are proud to manage this high-visibility service of Rai Net and to deliver it within the given SLAs and budget. Thanks to the delivery model that we created with and for Rai Net, we have been able to guarantee the full operation of critical systems and applications as well as to contribute to the introduction of new online rich-media content delivery services on the rai.it and rai.tv portals.”
