New Medical Equipment Store Features Customer-Friendly Environment

           MILWAUKEE – September 6 – A new, locally-owned retail store featuring home medical equipment and health aids in a consumer-friendly environment, will open on September 6th in Brookfield. Total Health & Wellness, 17145 W. Bluemound Road, will cater to a wide variety of patients who need everything from post-surgical rehabilitation items to equipment for managing ongoing health conditions.
            The full-service store is being developed by Kinex, a Brookfield company that distributes Phase 1 post-operative orthopedic devices. The company’s owners saw the opportunity to expand the business with a retail operation that would offer a different kind of buying experience than had been available in the marketplace.
            “Patients want to shop for their medical goods like they do for other products,” said owner Jim Gleason. “They want an attractive environment where they can try equipment out, where the atmosphere itself promotes a feeling of health and recovery.”

            Total Health & Wellness will have interactive displays for many items like braces, walkers, bathing aids, wheelchairs and accessories. The store will stock thousands of products, both prescription and over-the-counter, for immediate dispensing. Special orders for items the store doesn’t carry will be handled with no additional charge.
            Gleason noted that Total Health & Wellness will be staffed by professionals, including certified fitters. “Our staff will really make patients feel welcome and our fitters will make sure they’re getting just what the doctor ordered and that it fits well,” he said.
            A unique feature of Total Health & Wellness will be the private fitting rooms where fitters can assist individuals with post-mastectomy supplies, orthopedic braces and compression garments in a discreet, comfortable area. “Helping people feel confident about their equipment, that it’s contributing to their healing, is an important goal of the store,” Gleason said.
