WEBWIRE

“Norwegian Cruise Line no longer permits passengers to smoke in their staterooms, effective this January 2012.

Passengers who are in a balcony cabins only can continue to smoke cigarettes on the balcony, no exceptions for pipes and cigars in the cabins or balconies are strictly not allowed.

Smoking will be allowed only in the casino. Smoking will not be allowed in all other public indoor areas, including all the bars, restaurants, conference rooms, corridors, restrooms, staircases and other areas not designated for smoking.

Passengers can use the cigar bars onboard the Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Dawn and the Norwegian Spirit for smoking, cigars and pipes" said Thomas DeSimone, CEO & Chairman of CruiseDealership.com.

The new rules allows passengers to smoke cigarettes, cigars and pipes only in outdoor public spaces and open decks, where Norwegian has designated for smoking. Smoking will strictly banned near outdoor areas that serve food, and outdoor areas like the jogging track, sport complex, children’s pool area among other confined spaces.

Norwegian’s smoking change follows smoking rules being put in place by a few other major cruise lines. Starting this Dec. 1, 2011 Carnival guests will not be permitted to smoke in their cabins, but can smoke on their balconies staterooms. Princess will not permit or allow smoking in cabin staterooms or on balconies unlike Norwegian Cruise Line, starting Jan. 15, 2012.

Cruise Lines reserve the right to change policy at anytime, the above is as of August 10, 2011.
