DMEC Announces 2011 Partnership Award Winners

The Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) presented its annual Partnership Awards at its 16th Annual International Conference in Dallas, Texas. DMEC recognized five long-time members who have shown exemplary support and dedication to the organization. The award winners are:

• Cheryl Pasa, Executive Director, IDM, USAA
A Texas resident, longtime DMEC member and volunteer extraordinaire, Cheryl has given numerous conference presentations including the 2003 keynote in San Antonio, continuously served on the Employer Advisory Council since 2005, participated in the annual Strategic Planning & Growth, and is a proponent of DMEC, spreading the word whenever she can.

• Terri Rhodes, Principal, Mercer
Terri assisted DMEC in opening the Portland/SW Washington Chapter, serving as president as well as in other board positions for many years, and was the Chicago Chapter president. At the national level, she was Director of Programs and Executive Director of DMEC from 2003 to 2005. She was named to the Employer Advisory Committee in 2008 for 2 years, and now is on the Executive Advisory Board. Terri taught CPDM for over 10 years and assisted with the recent curriculum revisions. Always an advocate of IDAM, she has been a leader the field in terms of the need for measurement and outcomes.

• Mark Raderstorf, Past President and founder of Behavioral Medical Interventions (BMI)
His interest and promotion of behavioral risk and disability management led to the growth and sale last year of his company to CCN. He has spoken at both DMEC’s Annual International Conference and the Behavioral Risk Conference, participated on the conference programming committee, and supported DMEC as a sponsor of the Behavioral Risk Conference for many years.

• Roberto Ceniceros, Senior Editor for Business Insurance Magazine
Roberto has provided valuable reports on the field of Integrated Disability and Absence Management, as well as the disability industry. DMEC and Business Insurance subscribers have benefited from his coverage of the most pressing current challenges, as well as future developments and trends that are regularly showcased at our conferences and surveys.

• Paul Bomberger, Editor in Chief, accepting the award for Risk & Insurance Magazine
Since 1999, DMEC has enjoyed trade agreement that was first established by Tom Curry, Publisher. Through the years, a close working relationship with Matt Kahn (Publisher), Jack Roberts (Editor-in-Chief), Peter Rousmaniere (Columnist), and Matthew Brodsky (Sr. Editor) has ensued. Coverage of breaking topics like: Behavioral Risk, Workplace Warrior, and Virtual Workplace have helped raise awareness about these important and breaking topics, as well as increasing the visibility of DMEC.

Since 2000, DMEC has awarded this honor to only 53 individuals, representing both the employer and supplier constituency. Criteria for the award include: long standing membership; participation in chapter and national committees; personal commitment of volunteer hours; passion for the advancement of absence and disability management; and willingness to promote the programs of DMEC to other professionals.
