Los Angeles, CA (July 27, 2011) - Tootzypop (www.tootzypop.com), a new blog and daily email for women over forty, launched this month. Published by a group of ten “savvy, stereotype-smashing city gals,” the blog targets an over 40 woman with a more youthful, edgy sensibility than the typical mainstream media reader.

“Most of us come from the media world,” said Tootzypop founder Marcia Zellers. “And like most Los Angelenos, we’re media junkies: magazines, blogs, movies, TV, we love them all. But we don’t necessarily always feels like we have the same perspective as the women those media are speaking to. We wanted to create something for women like us.”

Tootzypop’s ten writers, all LA-based friends, represent the spectrum of lifestyles of a certain over 40 demographic: married, divorced, and single; kids and no kids; office types and entrepreneurs; homeowner and renters.

The daily posts, which can also be received as emails, are purposely kept short to appeal to this very busy demographic. As the site explains: “We’re juggling a lot of balls. You probably are too. Who has time for another commitment? That’s why we’re keeping it short. Our daily email is a quick read. An idea that one of us is pondering, and a quick suggestion to help you mull it over if it strikes a chord.”

Posts are divided into the categories of things most women in the 40 plus age group are thinking about: love, looks, family, friends, home, work, money, culture and health. Recent posts cover topics as diverse as why Justin Bieber is the Peter Frampton of his day, the inappropriateness of skinny jeans for a muffin-topped forty-something, going back to grad school after 40, and one Tootzypopper wondering whether she should have married a long-term male friend.

The writers have purposely kept their identities under wraps, except for photos and a few fun facts. “It’s not that we don’t want to reveal who we are,” said Zellers. “It’s just that it’s not important. We are every woman. If you live our lifestyle and think like us, we want you to feel welcome. We don’t want anyone to feel like they don’t belong because they work in a different industry, make more or less money, live in a different city, or whatever.”

Tootzypop posts daily Monday through Friday.
