KONE wins an order for a six-tower project in Ordos, China
KONE has won an order to supply 62 elevators to the Ordos Guotai Commercial Plaza project in the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos in China. All 62 elevators are from the KONE MiniSpace™ series.
The project consists of two 210-meter skyscrapers which are flanked by four high-rise buildings of which two measure 140 meters and another two are 120 meters high. The towers are connected by a 5-storey podium building that will house offices, restaurants and boutiques.
The gearless KONE MiniSpace™ elevators consume less energy and result in lower thermal losses than traditional machines. The plaza will link these elevators to the KONE E-Link™ monitoring system to guarantee a high level of service, thereby maximizing People Flow™.
“KONE’s pioneering eco-efficient solutions will ensure the smooth People Flow™ of the office workers and shoppers in this impressive six-tower complex,” says William B. Johnson, Managing Director of KONE China.
The complex is designed by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, the architect behind KONE references such as Beijing Capital International Airport’s Terminal 3 and the China National Grand Theater in Beijing. The main contractor of the project is Inner Mongolia Xingtai Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. The Ordos Guotai Commercial Plaza is scheduled to be completed in May 2012.
The order was booked in Q2 2011.
