Sony United appointment: Kerri Fox-Metoyer has been named vice president of Sony United, effective July 18. Kerri will partner with Sony sister companies to strategically distribute and market products and services available across the Sony brand, showcasing the all-encompassing entertainment experience Sony offers with music, gaming, movies, mobile devices, content services, and electronics. Most recently as the vice president of sales for Sony Music Nashville, Kerri directed sales and retail marketing initiatives for the company’s talent roster, including superstars Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney. “Kerri has been a valued member of the Sony Music team and we are happy that her talents as a sales and marketing executive will now benefit the entire Sony family in this important new role,” said Thomas Hesse, President, Global Digital Business, U.S. Sales and Corporate Strategy, Sony Music Entertainment. “We look forward to working with her in the future to drive Sony United initiatives across our various retail partnerships.”

“Your Life in Sony 3D” Contest Winner: Out of over 700 entries, Mesa, AZ resident Bobbi Mudra and daughter Sierra were selected as the winners of the national “Your Life in Sony 3D” contest with a heartwarming entry titled ‘Sk8ter Girl.’ Over 3,500 people voted on Facebook for their favorite ideas and determined the finalists. In addition to having Sierra’s mad skateboard skills shot in 3D by a pro camera crew which will air on 3net and in 2D in Times Square and at Sony stores nationwide, Bobbi and Sierra will also receive all the necessary 3D products to enjoy this moment forever, including a 55" BRAVIA 3D HDTV, 3D Blu-ray player, 3D Bloggie, Cyber-shot camera and 3D Handycam camcorder.

AVCHD Format Version 2.0 Now Available: On July 1, it was announced that the AVCHD Format has been updated to Version 2.0 by adding new specifications for 3D and 1080/60p,50p support. AVCHD Ver. 2.0 is standardized by now including 3D recording (3D MVC) and 60p/50p recording (PS), along with the current AVCHD format. More information on the format is available at www.avchd-info.org. Sony HD Handycam camcorder models HDR-CX130, HDR-CX160, HDR-CX360, HDR-CX 560, HDR-CX700, HDR-PJ10, HDR-PJ30, HDR-PJ50, HDR-XR160 and HDR-TD10 support the AVCHD 2.0 format.

Sony Bloggie Lollapalooza Sweepstakes: The Sony Bloggie team is sponsoring a sweepstakes on the Sony Facebook page for a chance to win VIP tickets to the Lollapalooza music festival taking place in Chicago Aug. 5-7. Inside the NEX-C3: Last month Sony announced the α NEX-C3 (now on pre-order), which has all of the same traditional features as the α NEX-3 and α NEX-5 such as a DSLR sized sensor, interchangeable lenses and ability to record HD video though this new model is slightly smaller and lighter with a new sensor and new processor.
