The World is Threatened by Nuclear Winter in 2016

The new Rick d. Tobin science fiction thriller, “Gordion’s Knot,” features Leire Sanchez, a lesbian, Basque freedom fighter, who battles her way through nuclear winter in the American Southwest. She has sworn to recover the frozen remains of her people’s sacred goddess, Mari—stolen first by the Spanish government, then the Germans, and now by an American DARPA agent. Her target is located within the Texas A&M University laboratory where Dr. David Gordion, a world renowned climatologist, is dying of cancer. He is also on the verge of reversing the nuclear winter created after India destroys Pakistan. He is supported and protected by the DARPA agent, James Allen, who is also the former lover of Dr. Gordion’s gay brother, Phillip. Sanchez and Allen are both racing against time and their determined, powerful enemies—foes that want to see Dr. Gordion fail and the goddess Mari’s ancient powers to be turned into tools for world domination.

During an interview, Rick stated that the concept for “Gordion’s Knot” was groundbreaking, especially for the Science Fiction genre. “Far too many stories, books, television shows and even movies portray the gay and lesbian community as comprised solely of weak and wishy-washy people who are unable to perform nobly in the face of violent threats. I’m tired of that patronizing and inaccurate presentation. Stories that have value show how we all cope during challenge. In a nuclear winter we would all be facing annihilation. The stakes would be high… and that is when heroes are born out of every fabric of society.”

Rick is also the owner of High Hope Publishing, which features his poetry, musical lyrics and novels. His first novel is a Knights Templar thriller set in California in 2013 called “The Curse of the 8th Buddha.” Rick’s books are available on Amazon.com. More information about Rick Tobin is at:
