Audi set another sales record on the Chinese market in the first six months of 2011. With a total of 140,699 vehicles delivered in China and Hong Kong, the Company increased sales by 28 percent versus the first six months of 2010. Audi sold 27,658 automobiles in June, more than in any month previously. This makes China the largest sales market for AUDI AG worldwide.

The Company posted a new best mark for imported vehicles in the period from January to June with 25,734 units, a year-on-year increase of 76 percent. Deliveries of the Audi models produced in Changchun – the A4L, the A6L and the Q5 – also increased during the first six months of 2011, with sales up 21 percent to 113,396 units. The locally produced Audi Q5 was particularly successful. With 23,107 units delivered, this model continues to be the market leader in its segment.

Audi sold 27,658 automobiles in China and Hong Kong in June alone, more than in any month previously. “With this record result, Audi remains the best-selling premium brand in China,” says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. “We are well on our way to achieving our planned sales target of 280,000 vehicles delivered.”

Audi has been present on the Chinese market since 1988, and produces the Audi A4L, the Audi A6L and the Audi Q5 in Changchun in a joint venture with FAW.
