SGS Provides Complex Services for Groundbreaking Nuclear Power Technology Test Facility in China

SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, was awarded a contract to provide complex third-party services for a nuclear power technology test facility in China on June, 21, 2011.

The aim of the facility is complex testing at the cutting-edge of China’s nuclear power technology, with CAP1400, which is based on the advanced AP1000 pressurized water reactor. In order to ensure the best quality and performance requirements are met at the test facility, the project owner looked for a reliable third-party inspection, verification, testing and certification company.

During the entire contract, scheduled from August 2011 to December 2011, SGS Industrial division in China will provide technical support in assessing equipment vendors bidding for the client. Furthermore, SGS’s team of nuclear power experts will conduct extensive Inspection services on the equipment at the test facility, including the reactor pressure vessel (RPV), steam generator (SG), regulators (PRZ), core-fill water tank (CMT), accumulator-safety injection tank (ACC) as well as the main coolant pump (RCP).

In addition, SGS will carry out Expediting services throughout the whole duration of the project. Using their first-rate experience and expertise, SGS will monitor sub-suppliers in order to ensure the project meets all national and international requirements and specifications. Within the scope of Expediting services, SGS’s skilled expediters will identify the areas that cause potential delays and undertake any necessary actions to guarantee that materials and equipment are delivered to the location on or before the promised dates defined in the delivery terms or purchase order. Moreover, SGS will obtain or reaffirm delivery promises from suppliers, fully investigate all aspects of the suppliers’ scheduling and provide the client with periodic status reports on the ongoing procedures.
