To mark this year’s Make Holidays Greener Week organised by the Travel Foundation (2 - 9 July), HolidayExtras.com is appealing to people to share their top tips for sustainable overseas travel.

The ten best green travel tips will be published on HolidayExtras.com’s online guide to green travel and one lucky winner will nab a fantastic Freeloader Globetrotter Kit, an advanced portable solar charging system that can recharge any handheld device using the power of the sun.

With contributions from the Make Holidays Greener Week campaign, HolidayExtras.com’s 30-page guide to green travel features expert advice on everything from choosing a destination and the greenest airlines to carbon offsetting schemes and practical tips on making your journey to the airport and hotel stay more environmentally sound, and perhaps saving a few pounds.

Anthony Clarke Cowell, head of product innovation and development at HolidayExtras.com, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing what sort of tips the UK’s holidaymakers have for greener travel. Most people would like to make their holidays more sustainable, and it doesn’t take huge changes to do this. Since April this year, every customer making a booking with HolidayExtras.com is invited to donate 50p to the Travel Foundation, and the charity can also claim Gift Aid on donations from UK tax payers. Based on current projections, HolidayExtras.com customers could be donating a million pounds over the next five years.
