DirectRooms.com – Attend Luxembourg’s Night Time Marathon on 11 June 2011

Luxembourg’s annual marathon race is unusual in that it is run at night, and DirectRooms are pleased to announce that this event will be run this year on 11 June 2011.

There’s more fun to this marathon than many in the rest of Europe – before and after the race the streets of Luxembourg will reverberate to the sounds of samba rhythms and the whole weekend will be party time.

The fun will start on the eve of the race when the great samba party begins, with international samba bands performing all over the city.

The ING Europe-marathon went carbon neutral for the first time in 2010 in partnership with MyClimateLux whose aim is to reduce CO2 emissions produced by the marathon. The aim was to invest in carbon-offset projects in developing countries such as India. This initiative will be continued in the 2011 race.

Over the weekend of the race the city will be presenting Expo 42, a trade show focusing on sport, culture and tourism located in the main arena at the start/finish line of the race. The show will be open on Friday, 10 June, from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday, 11 June, from 10am to midnight.

Luxembourg can expect a big influx of visitors for this prestigious event and spectators will be well advised to book early for a good hotel.
