Centers in Colombia and Argentina become a part of a growing global network

New York - The Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (Deloitte) Global Center for Corporate Governance launched two new member firm Centers for Corporate Governance in Latin America, adding Colombia and Argentina to its growing network of centers located in 17 countries.

Deloitte’s Global Center for Corporate Governance aims to promote dialogue in critical areas of corporate governance and provide a resource center for boards on issues of critical importance.

“Boards around the world are dealing with increasingly complex issues, amounting to significant increases in responsibility and accountability as well as directors’ time,” said Dan Konigsburg, Director, Deloitte Global Center for Corporate Governance, DTTL. “Deloitte member firm Centers for Corporate Governance around the world encourage dialogue and knowledge sharing to advance collaboration among corporations, boards, the accounting profession, academia, and government. The addition of these new centers to our network will significantly strengthen our reach in Latin America and add to the depth and breadth of our research and market intelligence. These centers also show the importance of corporate governance to private companies and family-owned companies, both very common in Latin America.”

The Deloitte Global Center for Corporate Governance also recently launched a new member firm center in Southern Africa, and has plans to further expand its network of centers in the coming months.

“We believe corporate governance is going through a critical stage as board members around the world are re-examining their roles as a result of the financial crisis, and are looking for ways to improve oversight of risk and to enhance the insight of the board in general,” said Konigsburg. “This is not just an American or European phenomenon anymore. Through our broad network of centers, governance specialists from Deloitte member firms around the world will now have access to local and international insights to help them understand the top boardroom priorities within the context of today’s challenging business environment.”
