Hitachi Data Systems Appoints Michael Väth as Senior Vice President Global Business Innovation

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced that it has named Michael Väth as senior vice president, Global Business Innovation, effective April 1, 2011. He will be succeeded as senior vice president and general manager, EMEA by Niels Svenningsen, whose new appointment is also announced today.

As a member of the global executive team, Väth’s new role follows six very successful years as senior vice president and general manager, EMEA. He will be a key interface with Hitachi, Ltd., increasing the amount of face-to-face collaboration between the organizations’ executive functions. His primary objectives upon starting the new role will focus on aligning the companies’ visions and strategies, while cultivating new solutions in the context of Hitachi globalization efforts.

In addition to his new role, Väth will stay a member of the Hitachi European Strategy Board responsible for fostering collaboration between Hitachi business groups. He is based in Frankfurt, Germany and will report into Hitachi Data Systems CEO Jack Domme.
